Hogan Marren, Ltd. becomes Hogan Marren Babbo & Rose, Ltd.

Hogan Marren, Ltd., effective as of June 1, 2015, changed its name to Hogan Marren Babbo & Rose, Ltd. The addition of Thomas J. Babbo and Charles P. Rose to the firm name reflects the substantial contributions they have made to the firm’s health care and education practice groups.  “Our new name reflects the outstanding leadership that Tom Babbo and Charlie Rose provide and underscores the prominent role we expect they will continue to play in the expansion and development of the firm in the future,” said Edward M. Hogan, a founding partner.

Mr. Babbo joined HMBR in 2006 and has been a shareholder since 2009.  Recognized by Chambers and Partners as one of the nation’s leading health care attorneys, he provides advice and counsel to hospitals, physicians, and other health care professionals – with a particular focus in physician-hospital alignment, clinical integration, and reimbursement issues. With more than a decade of experience, Mr. Babbo has assisted health care organizations in transactions, corporate matters, operations issues, litigation, and government investigations.

Prior to joining HMBR, Mr. Babbo was Assistant General Counsel for Advocate Health Care, and served as the legal counsel and corporate secretary for Advocate Physician Partners, Advocate's care management and health plan contracting joint venture. While at Advocate, Mr. Babbo provided legal services in areas such as managed care contracting, antitrust and clinical integration, information systems and telecommunications, medical education and clinical research, and hospital and physician practice operations. Prior to Advocate, Mr. Babbo served as Assistant General Counsel for Rush University Medical Center.

Charles P. Rose joined HMBR in 2014 and established the firm’s education practice. With more than 32 years of experience, Mr. Rose represents educational institutions (including traditional public and private colleges and universities, community colleges, for-profit institutions of higher education, K-12 school districts and private schools), corporations, private equity firms, foundations, state government agencies and municipalities, and tribal nations. Mr. Rose advises and counsels his clients on matters such as education law and policy; regulatory compliance and reform; corporate transactions; accreditation; labor & employment; collective bargaining; public/private partnerships; civil rights enforcement and policy guidance; and administrative law.

Prior to joining HMBR, Mr. Rose was the General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Education. As General Counsel, Mr. Rose advised the U.S. Secretary of Education on all legal, regulatory and policy matters and was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Department’s signature education reform initiatives.
John Marren, a founding partner, stated, "Tom and Charlie have helped us achieve our goal of building a national platform to service clients throughout the country in a cost-effective and responsive fashion. As a result, our firm is able to compete for work with the best firms in the country at a significantly better value.”

HMBR is a Chicago based law firm that was founded in 1993.
