Kelly McCloskey Cherf is elected to shareholder of the firm
As of January 1, 2007 Kelly McCloskey Cherf is has become a shareholder of the firm. Ms. Cherf has extensive experience in civil and commercial litigation. She is an accomplished trial lawyer in all aspects of courtroom and appellate proceedings in State and Federal courts and also has represented clients in administrative proceedings and arbitrations. She has represented corporate and individual clients in matters related to products liability, class actions, trademark infringement, business disputes, corporate and partnership disputes, employment disputes, breach of contract, business torts, professional malpractice, fraud, white collar criminal defense and creditor's rights. She also has represented government and commercial entities in cases involving government contracts, construction disputes, grants and audits and regulatory disputes. Most recently, Ms. Cherf served as co-counsel for Timothy McCarthy in the trial of United States v. Robert Sorich, et al, 05 CR 644 (N.D. IL), appeal pending, Case No. 06-4252 (7th Cir. 2007). Ms. Cherf received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from George Washington University National Law Center and her Bachelor of Arts in Economics, cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame.

Matthew J. Cleveland has become a partner in the firm
Matthew J. Cleveland has become a partner in the firm. Mr. Cleveland joined the firm in 1998, after graduating cum laude from The John Marshall Law School. He has developed a diverse practice, representing clients in both labor and employment matters. In addition, he has served in a general counsel capacity to hospitals, physicians and other not-for-profit organizations attending to their business, litigation and commercial real estate needs. Mr. Cleveland is also an adjunct law professor at The John Marshall Law School and serves as a member of the Board Trustees of the Loretto Hospital Foundation.

Christopher B. Anderson joins the firm as an Associate
Christopher B. Anderson recently joined the firm as an Associate in the health care practice. His practice encompasses a wide spectrum of transactional and regulatory issues affecting both professional and institutional healthcare providers, including fraud and abuse, self-referral, corporate compliance, Medicare filings, mergers and acquisitions, tax-exemption, state licensure, and compliance with federal and state antitrust laws.

Previously, Mr. Anderson worked as a law clerk for the General Counsel's Office at Children's Memorial Hospital researching and preparing memoranda regarding various hospital operational issues and updating hospital policies to insure compliance with current laws and regulations.

Mr. Anderson received his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 2006, with a Concentration in Health Law, and his B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame in 2001.

Mr. Anderson is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, and the Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys.

Thomas J. Babbo joins the firm as a partner.
With more than 10 years of experience in health care, Thomas J. Babbo has represented and advised hospitals, physicians, and other health care professionals in transactions, corporate matters, operations issues, litigation, and government investigations. Before joining the health care practice at Hogan Marren, Ltd., Mr. Babbo was Assistant General Counsel for Advocate Health Care, and served as the legal counsel and Corporate Secretary for Advocate's managed care contracting joint venture, Advocate Health Partners. While at Advocate, Mr. Babbo provided legal services in such areas as managed care contracting, antitrust and clinical integration, information systems and telecommunications, medical education and clinical research, and hospital and physician practice operations. Prior to Advocate, Mr. Babbo served as Assistant General Counsel for Rush University Medical Center.
